Known to Isabelinos as radio broadcaster Bombo Grace, Grace Padaca was comfortably living the life of a private citizen before being thrust in the limelight of the political arena.
As a journalist, she frequently reported on the state of her province Isabela under the 40-year-old political dynasty. Finally she decided that she and her kababayans had had enough with the same old faces and deserved an alternative candidate, someone who can give them hope and change.

That alternative choice turned out to be herself. Thanks to her reputation as a trusted name in Bombo Radyo, thousands of Isabelinos threw their support behind the polio-stricken lady who dared defy traditional politics and go up against one of the most powerful and well-entrenched families in the country.

In the end, the woman whose candidacy the Dy family laughed off beat all odds and took her seat as governor of Isabela. She had neither money nor machinery, but she had the support of Filipinos who were longing for change, change that the brave broadcast journalist offered and stood up for, never mind that she could barely stand without crutches. It was the people who held her up.
In a few weeks, the campaign period for local elections will officially start, and the moneyed family of Governor Grace’s opponent will pull all stops to ensure victory in the coming elections, restoring power in their hands. It will be a difficult fight for Governor Grace, as she has neither the money nor the machinery that her opponent has.

Governor Grace is only one among many good candidates who need your help in their fight against corruption. The Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership of which Gov. Grace along with Pampanga Gov. Eddie Panlilio is part of is now looking for generous Filipinos who would like to help our champions of good governance win in May 2010 despite the odds against many of them.

Our candidates are running on limited resources precisely because they refuse to engage in Graft and Corruption and stoop down to shady “business” transactions. But this makes their campaign all the more difficult. We ask for your support and donations, whether in cash or in kind, for our local Kaya Natin candidates.
