Kaya Natin! Statement to Bro. Eddie Villanueva’s Statements at the Philippine Daily Inquirer
It was published last Sunday at the Philippine Daily Inquirer that Bro. Eddie Villanueva was quoted as saying that he has heard from reliable sources that Kaya Natin! has made an internal arrangement with the Liberal Party to field Senator Mar Roxas and Gov. Ed Panlilio for the 2010 elections. As the lead convenor of Kaya Natin!, let me categorically state that there is no truth to this rumor. Kaya Natin! continues to be led by our 5 Kaya Natin! local government leaders who actually come from different political parties thus, an internal arrangement with a particular political party will not be possible given their different political affiliations.
Moreover, I would like to categorically state that it is neither Kaya Natin nor Gov. Ed Panlilio’s supporters which are currently organizing a nomination and selection process for a common reform and alternative presidential candidate in 2010. Prior to our meeting with Bro. Eddie Villanueva, we have already been approached by church, academic and civil society groups who are currently in the process of organizing a selection and nomination process to find a common reform candidate. We agree with these groups that it is only through a united reform constituency that we will be able to have a strong chance of winning the presidential elections in 2010. This is the primary reason why we asked Bro. Eddie Villanueva if he would be open to the possibility of taking part in this planned selection process during our meeting with him. Kaya Natin continues to be open and support these groups who are currently working for a credible nomination and selection process that will enable us to field and support a common reform candidate.
Finally, we categorically state that we continue to be open to work with the Bangon Pilipinas, Bagong Pilipino Movement and Bro. Eddie Villanueva towards promoting good governance and ethical leadership in our country.
I hope that this will clarify the issues that Bro. Eddie Villanueva mentioned in his interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

I am Andoni Valencia, a part of the newly launched Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Pilipino Movement last Saturday in Araneta Coliseum.
In reaction to the statement you made. I read an article from PDI in which Fr. Robert Reyes aired in public that talks for a Roxas-Panlilio tandem is being initiated already. I was quite dismayed because I though Kaya Natin is for GENUINE NON TRADITIONAL Politics and yet why are you guys considering Mar Roxas? Do you not consider him a TRAPO? Do you see HOPE in his leadership if he wins?
Im sorry to say this, but if Mar Roxas becomes president, we will be back to square one. We are just playing games on the masses who for so long have been victims of exploitative politicians.
Since 2004 up to now, I have always believed and inspired by Bro. Eddie and I am very vocal in calling for him to run again. I was even hoping for a Villanueva-Panlilio tandem for 2010.
Lastly, I think Bro. Eddie was really dismayed by the floating of Mar Roxas’ name to be part of the selection process because we are for genuine alternative candidates. Also, Bro. Eddie has made a decisions for the sake of God and country that he will run again in 2010.
I hope the Kaya Natin group will join us in this crusade for genuine change.

I still urge kaya natin leaders to continue to talk to Bro. Eds group.
Some print releases now say that Kaya natin supporters have considered Roxas for president. That is not entirely true. I am not one of them.
I am reminded of the story of Jesus and His disciples who took a boat in order to cross to another island. They were all still and well until a storm came. Then the disciples were rattled and fear came to them. They ask their Master to wake up and help them.
The movement for an athical government can be like his. I thought were already anchored on some genunine reform people until the storm of our selection of choices came. Then we scrambled for some kind of safety in the so called primaries. Then, we included Roxas. Now I ask? What is our standard?
If our standard becomes too low, as to forget about the tract record of Roxas and the Liberals, let some of us fall into the trap. But I believe we cannot trust God and the storm at the same time. Let those who believe in Roxas cross the eye of the storm. I will just have to stand my ground. Our trust is on the righteousness of people out there who do not believe in the status quo. Roxas belong to the status quo. He might have been the number one Senator but he did not rely on the wisdom of people. He relied on the the numbers reached out by the millions he spent to be elected. I will be quite straight about it. Why Roxas? I have been in politics all my life and long enough not to know that the Liberals drafted Roxas not out of his convictions but out of his ability to spend.
Yet, I exhort the Kaya Natin to put its foot on the premise that we are genuinely set on Non traditional politians to lead us. Roxas has been doing great in the tradition where he stands. But I cant believe in that tradition. Let Mar follow us and see what the late Gerry Roxas stood for. Gerry Roxas belonged to the category of Ninoy. But Mar, is not Gerry. Let Mar Roxas therefore learn, what we learned from his father. Then, we can be on the same level of politics.
That is why we are here. But if were not together on this belief, then we were never together after all. Of course, I will respect the desire of people to get rid of GMA. Honestly though I think GMA is not the only problem. We and our inbelief is the problem.

i guess we in the reform constituency are all still looking for a unifying force. i understand the apprehensions about roxas piggy-backing on this, and i can see how his tv ads can leave a bad taste in people’s mouths. but what exactly is so trapo about him? i’ve been hearing stories kasi about how he’s a straight arrow, morally upright, etc. and i haven’t heard anything about him being corrupt. anyone care to enlighten me?

I hope you will not pursue your talks with Bro. Eddie. I heard him talk during the Kilosbayan Forum for Presidentiables during the last Presidential elections. And I shared the same sentiments of the many who attended the forum. Bro. Eddie should just stay in JIL. Moreso, I know for a fact that a post mortem meeting was held right after that elections to find out the possible reasons he lost (He really believed that the 4 million or so Protestant and Evangelical church members will solidly support him.) and how to prepare for 2010. So when I heard Bro. Eddie deny running for 2010 in the past, I knew that was a lie. A person who can lie and not confess the lie can do more lies. So much for non-trapo politics. I support change. I don’t think Bro. Eddie can be that instrument for change.

Among Ed is a genuine man, and of course Bro. Eddie as well. So much! I was also dismayed when I came to read that news, because I really thought before that there will be an Bro. Eddie- Among Ed tandem for 2010.. I said wow, that’s a big leap for genuine change! And also another thing, Among Ed also said in an interview with ABS-CBN during the JIL 30th aniv, that he was actually the one pushing ECV to the Presidential bid so I was really dismayed of the news when it came out on PDI.
Well, anyway, now, I was glad that I came to know that that is not true.

Yes, Presidential Election in 2004 is already recorded in the annals of Philippine history. Bro Eddie lost on that “fraudulent election” - but i am praying that the leadership of Bangon Bagong Pilipinas Movement and so do we (supporters), should learn our lessons and do a new RE-PACKAGING of Bro. Eddie come 2010 elections.
Four important considerations to make it to the presidency come 2010:
(Beside the Prophetic words, FAITH, Visions & Dreams: which became our inspiration and pushed our adrenalin in 2004 - now, we must do more before May 11, 2010, because if we will just repeat these - then the result would be so obvious, a losing streak!)
1.) WINNABILITY - let us exhert all our efforts, venture on all areas to ensure the winnability of Bro Eddie. His TANDEM & Line Ups, the support of the grass-roots level are of utmost importance on this matter.
2.) PERFORMANCE - let the people know Bro Eddie “Up Close & Personal”.
3.) MASS APPEAL - filipinos do vote those whom they know, mass media plays a vital role on this area. Not to mention the Print medium.
4.) LOGISTICS - political machineries (Parapharnelias & Manpower).
I pray that this contribution of mine be of help to all those who rally behind Bro. Eddie C. Villanueva.

We overseas workers deperately wanted change. Overseas workers estimated as 2 million worldwide will go for genuine people.

I work in Broadcast Media for almost twenty years all politicians who were interviewed promised to do their best if they were elected and what they did now is as good as nothing. They all got richer and richer and the Filipino became poorest of the poor. We have all the natural resources but this government officials do not support to improve these resources instead they support imports that is more cheaper than our local products. (Alam na ng Pinoy yun kung bakit, dahil nilagyan cla ng dayuhan)
Dito sa bayan natin ang mga opisyal ng gobyerno ang alam nila o’ ang “mind set” nila ay Hari, Bosing, Amo, Siga, atbp sila., nakalimutan nila na SERVANT sila. Ano ba ang tutuong kahulugan ng SERVANT?, di ba’t naglilingkod sa panginoon nya sa o’ sa Amo nya. mas malaki ang kayamanan ng Amo kaysa sa Servant. Dito sa Pinas ang Servant ay di hamak na mas malaki pa ang pera nya sa kanyang Amo na milyong milyong Pilipinong mahihirap. Di ba dapat ang pinagyayaman ng Servant ay ang Amo nya, hindi ang sarili nya. Anong gagawing ng Amo kapag natuklasan na nangungupit sya sa yaman ng Amo. Ang ginagawa sa Middle East pinuputulan ng kamay, isa sa bansang ng Europe kapag nakita nila sa ang Servant na magnanakaw ay sinasaksak, binabaril o’ sa madaling salita pinapatay. Ang mga Servant sa ibang bansa sa Europe nakakapag lakad ng walang body guard sa kalye, sa iskinita, sa Mall dahil alam nila sila ay naglilingkod ng tutuo sa bayan. At madali silang patayin kapag mayginawa silang pagnanakaw ‘o mali sa bayan.
Ayaw nating mangyari dito sa mga Pinas yun hangat natitiis pa. kaya sana sa mga boboto nitong darating na Eleksyon 2010. Piliin natin yung may banal na takot sa Dyos at handang magsakripisyo para sa Bayan.
Halos lahat ng Politician na nungkulan sa ‘ting bayan ay walang nagawa, at tingnan natin ang life style nila. Pinayaman nila ang kanilang sarili. Kaya sa mga tatakbong Politician dapat ay handang isakripisyo ang kanilang sarili (manatili lamang ang kanilang dating status ng kabuhayan)’WAG MAGPAYAMAN. Kung gusto mong magpayaman WAG KANG PUMASOK SA POLITIKA. Maraming Pinoy na nag hihirap namumulot sa basura para makakain, natutulog sa bangketa. Kung gusto nyong sa Politika ilagay nyo sa isipan nyo na tatakbo sa Eleksyon na TITIYAKIN NYONG wala ng pinoy na nanaghahanap ng pagkain sa basurahan at natutulog sa bangketa, may sariling kabuhayan, at tayong Pinoy ang mag papautang hindi na tayo ang mangungutang. Isipin mo ikaw na tatakbo sa Elekyon, mabuting maglingkod kapag maraming dapat paunlarin sa bayan, maraming magpapasalamt sa Dyos dahil sa buhay ng mga mabubuting Servant.
Maraming paraan upang i-angat ang kabuhayan ng Pinoy dito sa lupa ng Pilipinas na mayaman sa Natural Resources, matatalinong Inventor, magagaling na Software Developers, Programmers, Engineers, at Skilled Worker at marami pang iba. At Higit sa lahat may buhay na Dyos na handang tumulong sa pagbabago. Uulitin ko po’ Iboto natin ang taong may pusong NAGMAMAHAL sa Dyos at handang magligkod sa ating Bayan.
