Our national hero, José Rizal who said “the youth is the hope of our future” must be smiling yesterday at the thousands of people who gathered from Makati to Davao to express indignation against Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her allies in the House of Representatives for tampering with our Constitution to suit their personal interests.
Thousands more from around the world in emails, pinoy blogs, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook (e.g., one account http://apps.facebook.com/causes/293075 in one week and as of today has 24,825 against Con-Ass) have spoken and acted. Jose Rizal also said: “There can be no tyrants where there are no slaves.”
GMA arrogantly and deceitfully stated “the world will not forgive an Edsa3.” On the contrary, the world has already condemned her evil ways. People-power never dies. Edsa3 has begun.
What is the hidden agenda? Plan A: On the next SONA, pass a quick resolution to finalize Con-Ass, no problem with the Supreme Court (has enough appointees),hold the elections as scheduled, GMA runs as a member of parliament candidate in her riding (district) where she can easily buy votes, falsify and cheat national election results (easier to do now with machines, not manual, Comelec on her side) to make sure her political party has majority winners and as leader of her political party becomes the first prime minister. More corruption and abuse of power and let the people suffer.
Plan B: Worse scenario: do it Marcos-style and declare martial law, fake coup d’etat and “terrorist bombings,” arrest all political opponents, more lies and transfer additional money and assets abroad and make plans for a get-away to avoid court charges and a jail term.
Plan C: Will develop after “monitoring the rally” and consider supporting possible candidates who will forgive and pardon her.
Cory Aquino unable to attend the rally due to illness had this message for us all:
“There is nothing that causes me greater pain than to see our people betrayed again and again by those they elected.” Yes, indeed, a lot of us feel the pain. But we will ease the pain and continue with people-power. She also urges us to pray for our beloved country. Let us continue to act and pray “Lord, deliver us from evil.”
Jose Rizal and Ninoy Aquino are national heroes and today, we are not short of heroes. I salute all the men, women and children who participated in the rallies, the world wide web support, the silent supporters, all those who continue to pray
para sa “bayan kong mahal, sintang Pilipinas.” Maraming salamat.
Kundiman ni Jose Rizal:
Datapuwa’t muling sisikat ang maligayang araw.
Pilit na maliligtas ang inaping bayan.
Magbabalik man din at laging sisilang
Ang ngalang Pilipino sa Sandaigdigan
At laging sisilang ang ngalang Pilipino sa Sandaigdigan.
