"To foretell the destiny of a nation, it is necessary to open the book that tells of her past." (Jose Rizal)

    Mga kababayan.

Our country has always been independent until Spain made us a colony for four hundred years. Just as we were about to regain our freedom,
Admiral Dewey arrived in Manila Bay in 1898. America took over from Spain but gave back our freedom in 1946. Marcos promised to make the country great again in 1965. Instead, we had twenty years of dictatorship, rampant violations of our human rights and total disregard of the constitution. We lost our freedom. Edsa revolution showed the world that guns and tanks did not frighten us but with prayers and courage we became free again.

Fast forward to the present, after eight years in office, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has brought our country to the lowest level with her abuse of power, corrupt administration and total disregard of our laws. And now she is scheming to extend her term using her allies in the House of Representatives to change our Constitution. Lately, the people spoke not only against Con-Ass but against her lust for power, greed and negligence to serve the people.

After “monitoring the rallies” GMA attempts to deceive us more with denials that she has nothing to do with Con-Ass, instructed her allies to put it “on hold” (probably pursue later) and denials that she will not extend her term but will run as a representative candidate in her hometown. Will she declare martial law or cheat in the next election to make sure her political party wins (after all, she believes she has control over the election results), change our constitution then and turn congress into a parliament and become the first prime minister? The people have given her more than enough time to prove herself and has let the country down.

We hold the destiny of our nation in our hands. Our “beloved Country, treasured region of the sun, Pearl of the Orient sea” (Jose Rizal) is so rich in natural resources, fertile lands and bountiful waters can feed every man, woman and child.

We will rise again from north to south, from east to west in our beautiful islands, together with fellow countrymen all over the world to remove corrupt politicians who have become amoral and deaf to the needs of the people. With prayers, the Lord will hear our cry and good will prevail over evil. Be not afraid. Kaya Natin!
