Kaya Natin, kaya mo pa ba? (1 post)

I got this letter of concern from a friend. It concerns the people of Cagayan de oro:

yes the people has spoken.. but not in cdo, erap won here and the local trapos are back.. this should be a reflection point for all of us.. we need to transform the barangays.. transfrom the electorate.. if we dont raise a hand on this we will always end up with the kind of leaders we have in cdo.
as i have been saying we are popular in our circles, but we lack the constituency.. community level.. TIME TO REACH OUT TO THESE PEOPLE

here's my reply: ( for Cagayan de oro and for the nation)

Hi ! Thanks for responding. I agree with you.

In my case, I have been trying to keep the discussion going with or without elections. I came to a point of even losing my elective position by refusing to agree with anomalous transactions. I had to refuse to join political parties which are run by the tradition. As a matter of fact, I came to a point of even resigning from my own political party even at the cost of being misunderstood and ridiculed. It's a tall order. We fight, we run, we lose. However, winning or losing the elections does not matter too much to me now, than standing up with the right cause. It has even terribly affected the peace of my family and my practice of profession. Finances and parental obligations caught up with me, that's why I am in the US. Yet, I must recognize that this process too has given me time to reflect and purify my intentions and even my personal lifestyle. It is when one is lonely and helpless that God makes the most important invitation to ask us to allow Him to take the lead. I am not making excuses because I committed mistakes too, in the process of change that I so desired for our people.

I realized by actual experience that change and freedom requires sacrifices and suffering. Most important, it requires a prayerful, pure and truthful heart. That's the most important element that we need to accept. Reaching out to a people blinded by money and vices requires a deeper Spiritual dimension. I have committed to do just that. I hope more people will set the good example and zeal.

I am not giving up. Noynoy becomes President because Ninoy set the tone. He refused to agree with a dictatorship and an extremely corrupt administration even in solitary confinement and in the most terrible imprisonment and humiliation.
He learned to pray and Cory, too. Ninoy gave up life for others to live. I believe Noynoy simply did not earn it all by himself. God has annointed him. Then too, God's people will rule in our city if a few good men and women will set the tone for His people to follow. Noynoy is expected to lead, the way his father dreamed and died for. Ninoy once said " The burden is now on your shoulders son" . Noynoy must carry that burden now, and so do we, as local residents and citizens of this nation. Kaya Natin and the likes of Grace Padaca, Ed Panlilio and their constituents cannot give up too, the nation is looking up to them.
    God bless!
